Many people often wonder how long their video doorbell can record. Some people often ask if the Eufy doorbell can record continuously 24/7. We are going to be addressing all of these and more in this article below.
Does Eufy Doorbell Record 24/7?
Although there are several Eufy products that support continuous recordings such as the Eufy camera, Eufy doorbell doesn’t support continuous recording. This feature is not yet enabled on the Eufy doorbell.
If you are looking for a means to continuously record activities that happen around the entrance of your house for security, you must combine the Eufy doorbell with other security devices such as the Eufy camera. By combining them, you can automatically record the events that take place when someone comes within the range of your activity zone.
How Long Does the Eufy Doorbell Record Activities?
The Eufy doorbell can record for 60 seconds. Once anyone comes within the activity zone, the option to record is triggered and the doorbell begins to record for 60 seconds. The doorbell stops recording once 60 seconds is up.
The recordings of the doorbell are sent and saved in the Homebase. You can access the recordings on your phone or computer.
Why Is my Eufy Doorbell not Recording?
There are different reasons why your Eufy doorbell isn’t recording. From the installation process to the internet connection, below are possible reasons why your doorbell isn’t working as well as it should.
1. Disabled Motion Detection
If your Eufy doorbell motion detection is disabled, your Eufy doorbell will not record whenever anyone comes within the range of the doorbell. You should know that it is motion detection that triggers the doorbell camera. Once the motion detection is off, there is no way the doorbell camera will work.
The moment you notice that your doorbell camera isn’t recording, you must take your time to check your doorbell settings and confirm if the motion detection is turned on.
2. Power Problem
If your doorbell is having power problems, there is also a pretty good chance that your doorbell camera won’t work. Sometimes, a bad wired connection can result in our doorbell not coming on at all. When this happens, the Eufy doorbell will not work.
Apart from a bad wired connection for wired doorbells, your doorbell will not work if you are having a flat or bad battery. Some Eufy doorbells use batteries and if these batteries are flat, the doorbell will not record or come on.
3. Sensitivity Settings
Another thing that can make your doorbell camera not work is your sensitivity settings. The level of your sensitivity settings determines what your doorbell camera should record whenever someone or anything comes within range.
If your sensitivity settings are low, your camera will not record whenever animals come within the angle of your doorbell. It will only record or be triggered when someone comes towards your doorbell.
4. Doorbell being Offline
For your doorbell to work successfully, it must be connected to wifi. If your doorbell isn’t connected to wifi, there is absolutely no way your doorbell will record videos whenever anyone comes within the activity zone. In fact, you must know that the doorbell might not function at all.
Several things can make your doorbell go offline. If you change your wifi password after connecting your doorbell, you will have to take your time to reconnect your doorbell to wifi before your doorbell can successfully record people that come within the activity zone.
5. Hardware Issues
There is a pretty good chance your doorbell camera will not record anyone that comes within the activity zone if it is having a hardware issue. Sometimes, the internal parts might develop faults during the installation process. When these faults happen, your doorbell cannot record unless it is fixed.
A hardware issue can also happen when you are moving the doorbell from one place to another. Simply take your time to open up your doorbell to confirm if there is any loose connection from inside.
How to Fix the problem of Eufy Doorbell not Recording?
There are different things you can do to fix the problem of your Eufy doorbell not working. Below is a list of things you can do to fix this problem.
- Enable the Motion Detection
This is the first thing you can do to solve the problem of your Eufy doorbell not recording. You must take your time to check the motion detection settings to know if the motion detection is enabled. If it isn’t, simply enable it from the settings.
To enable the motion sensors, go to the EufySecurity app and click on the doorbell camera. Go to your camera settings and click on motion detection. Click on the motion test mode to adjust the distance of the activity zone. Once you do this, you can stand within the activity zone to confirm if the settings are properly done.
- Check if your Doorbell is properly Connected to Power
Since your doorbell needs power to function, you must check if it is securely connected to power the moment you notice that your doorbell isn’t recording or working. If you use a wired doorbell, check if there is any short circuit in the wiring. If there is, take your time to fix it. Once you fix it, your doorbell should begin to work perfectly.
On the other hand, if you use a wireless doorbell, you can check the battery level from the app to know if the battery is running low. If the battery is running low or flat, simply detach the doorbell and charge the batteries. Use the doorbell detaching pin to detach the door. Once you do this, use a USB charger to charge the battery. It should take around 3 to 6 hours to charge fully.
- Adjust the Sensitivity Settings
This is another thing you can do the moment you notice that your Eufy camera isn’t recording. You need to go to the app and check the sensitivity settings on the app. If the sensitivity setting is too low, there is a pretty good chance your doorbell will not record whenever someone comes within the activity range.
To adjust the sensitivity settings, simply launch the Eufy app on your phone and log into your account. The moment you do, go to your camera settings and click on motion sensors. Tap sense motion mode and click choose the sensitivity settings you want. You can increase the sensitivity settings to ensure optimal performance from the doorbell.
- Check your Wifi Connection
The moment you notice that your doorbell isn’t connecting to wifi, you must take your time to check your wifi connection. If your wifi is on a different encryption, there is a pretty good chance that your doorbell will not connect.
Apart from the encryption, you must take your time to check if the doorbell isn’t too far from the router. If the doorbell is too far from the router, connecting to the wifi will be quite difficult. Bring the router closer to the doorbell and input the right wifi password.
- Check for Hardware Issues
If you have followed the above steps to no avail, you should check if there are any hardware issues with your doorbell. You can open up your doorbell to check if there is any loose connection inside the device.
On the other hand, if you are not sure you can fix tge problem yourself, you can either call a specialist or contact support to help you with your doorbell problem. As long as there is a warranty, Eufy should either change or fix your doorbell for free. That is, as long as you can prove the hardware issues aren’t caused by you.
How to Set up Eufy Wireless Video Doorbell
The Eufy wireless video doorbell system has 2 parts. This includes the video doorbell at the front of your porch or entrance and the Homebase which is inside your home. The doorbell senses motions and records videos while the videos it records are stored inside the Homebase. Setting up the wireless doorbell is pretty easy. All you need to do is follow the steps below.
- Connect the Homebase
This is the first thing you must do if you are looking to set up your wireless Eufy doorbell. You must take your time to connect the Homebase to power. Once you have connected your Homebase to power, take your time and use the ethernet cable to connect your Homebase to the router in your house.
Once you have done both, you might have to wait for a couple of minutes for your Homebase to be ready for set up. Once the Homebase is ready, the led light at the front of your Homebase should turn blue.
- Setting up the System
This is the next thing you should do once you are done connecting your Homebase to the router and power. Download the Eufy security app on your phone, launch the app, and log in with your necessary credentials. Once you have done this, click on the Homebase on the app and tap <next>. Tap the synchronize button for 2 seconds till you hear a beep. Once you do, you will see a notification telling you the Homebase has been successfully added.
- Choose a perfect Mounting Spot
You must take your time to choose a perfect mounting spot for your Eufy doorbell. Take the doorbell to the entrance and place it where you will like to mount it. Check the view on the app to confirm if it gives you the necessary coverage you need. There are some onscreen instructions you can follow to give you a perfect mounting spot.
Make sure you use existing screw holes and ensure they are at least 1.6 meters high to give you all the coverage you need. Use a screwdriver, a mounting wedge, and a screw to properly mount the bracket to the wall. The method for mounting the bracelet to a wooden entrance completely differs from the method you should use for a block surface. You might need a hand drill if you are mounting it to a block or hard surface
Once you have done the above, simply align the doorbell from the top of the bracelet and snap it at the bottom. Press the doorbell down until everything click into place. Your doorbell is set and ready the moment it has fitted into the bracket.
Unmounting the doorbell on the other hand is a whole lot simpler. All you need to do is detach the appendix at the bottom of the bracket.
